Sadly no towplane was available to us on Sunday so after our
AGM meeting it was into the car (Bob on his bike) and off to Tauranga.
Four of us went over and three had a flight in a Puchacz,
after a tow to 3000ft. All of us enjoyed the flight and the views over Tauranga
and Mt Maunganui. The Puchacz is made by the same company that made our Bocian
but is a bit more modern, see their latest sailplanes HERE. The main difference
of course being that it is made of glass fibre. Some features have remained the
same between the two such as the forward sweep of the wings.

During the last few months we have had regular contact with
the Tauranga club to arrange a towplane and pilot; it was nice to get over
there to do some flying. Thanks to the Tauranga club and its members there on
the day for making us so welcome.
Our next flying day is planned for this Sunday (16 December) and the long range forecast for weather and towplanes is good. If you are interested in coming for a flight or just to have a look you are welcome to do so. Get in touch with Mike or Don (details on the right of the page) or see us out at Rotorua Airport, past the main terminal, about 11:00.
