December Flying

What a flying day!  Six flights in total on a beautiful summers day. Lift was scattered and at times hard to stay in but some good flying was had by all. Mike completed his BFR and was solo again later in the day. Don had a great flight in the Astir (GMM) and we could see him doing wing overs prior to joining the circuit for landing.

The next flying day is expected to be mid January. Watch this space.

We're still here.

Although there have been few updates this year the club is still alive and well. Anyone wishing to have a go contact Mike or Don.  Here are a few new pictures taken by Garth who came out to have a go. Thanks Garth.

December flying

The 15th of December was a great day for flying with almost perfect flying conditions. Rick Fleming had a trial flight and enjoyed the experience. Some of his photos are shown. Thanks Rick for the photos.

The next planned flying day is likely to be in early January. Details of this will be here a day or two prior or else contact Mike.

First flying day of season

Jeff
A great days gliding to kick off the flying season for us and to get GED back in the air after so long. Three people out for a trial flight; Jeff, Ralph and Terry all had great flights and enjoyed themselves. We hope to see you guys back at some stage. Ralph, you left your camera mount on the strap so you'll have to!

This was our first gliding day for a long time. Thanks to Don who was our instructor for all flights today and to Paul who came over from Tauranga to be tow pilot for us. All your efforts are appreciated.

Callum's gps path is shown below. Not much lift about today and what was there was hard to find and stay in. Those with sharp eyes might spot evidence of a wind change.

Remember our club can cater for those who want to try gliding for the first time and can offer training through to qualified glider pilot.

Sunday February 3

What a huge day! Four trial flights and Ben's BFR to kick the day off. All four people who came out for a trial flight really enjoyed the experience and interestingly all received their voucher as a Christmas present. Ryan seemed to have a great flight and loved the gentle aerobatics. A huge smile on his face said it all.

Mike had a couple of flights in GMM Bob and Callum both flew as well. Plenty of bumps and patches of lift but it proved very difficult to stay in.

Thanks to Paul (I may have that wrong) for being our tow pilot on the day. After leaving a shower or two in Tauranga he had a very busy day. Thanks also to Don who took our trial flighters for their experience and then endured flying with Bob and Callum.

Next flying day is looking as though it will be the 24th of February.

Sunday 13 Jan

A very busy day gliding today with a few people coming out to make use of their trial flight vouchers. All enjoyed their flights as did Bob's son who is visiting from London, where it is only 3 degrees, at the moment.

Although not a lot of lift around today the flying was fun. The video was taken by Arjan Harre during his flight. Thanks Arjan you did a good job of the filming and we hope to see you out flying with us again soon.

Next flying day is likely to be either the 27th of this month or the 3rd of next.
